At the EFZN in Goslar, various groups of researchers work together on trend-setting, application-oriented topics in transdisciplinary project teams. In order to ensure that the trend-setting formation in these subjects also benefits Niedersachsen’s schools, the Managing Board of the EFZN has decided to make the respective facilities accessible for schooling purposes, too. In the future, the EFZN also intends to offer (further) education options for student teachers and teachers in the natural sciences at Niedersachsen’s schools.
The activities of the EFZN in the field of energy education have also resulted in a series called "Studientag Energie", which will first be offered – with the support of Niedersachsen’s Ministry of Culture and Education – in the school year 2011/2012.
The "Studientag Energie" serves to familisarise the pupils of secondary level II with the concept of energy in its manifold facets, since especially the topic of energy as a general challenge will provide an important future field of activity for natural scientists and engineers alike. Issues of essential significance in this respect are the subjects of energy generation, energy utilisation and energy storage. The intention of the "Studientag Energie" at the EFZN consists, on the one hand, in giving the participating pupils an overview of the ongoing respective research and, on the other hand, in conveying, in various modules, experiments on the topic of energy in practice, with the modules exhibiting a strong cross-linkage of the subjects of physics, chemistry, mathematics, informatics and technology.
Another way of gaining insight into the current energy-scientific research of the EFZN consists in the practical-training placements offered by that centre. In principle, such practical-training placements are available in all the research fields of the EFZN or at the centre’s branch office. However, having said that, the practical-training placements offered by the EFZN are strictly limited to the following contexts:
The EFZN regrets to be unable to offer any other forms of practical training such as e.g. independent or "trial" placements.
Applications for practical training placements at the EFZN are to be submitted by the following deadlines:
|
Deadline |
Start of the placement |
|---|---|
|
1 May of the year |
for placements starting on 1 July of that same year |
|
1 Nov. of the year |
for placements starting on 1 January of the following year |
Respective applications should especially detail the key interest topics of the applicant as well as his/her qualifications obtained to date, including the corresponding proof. For the subject areas and tasks currently tackled at the EFZN, please refer to the overview pages of the respective research fields.
Please send your written applications by postal mail and by the above-mentioned deadlines, using the following address:
