The research field "Fundamentals of new energy technologies" first of all puts a main focus on the two subject areas of energy transformation using new materials and sensor technology for the purpose of optimising energy efficiency.
Within the field of material development, a special focus with regard to future evolutions is placed in particular on high-temperature materials for sensor and actuator applications and on nanostructured materials for energy transformation. The aim consists in the target-oriented creation and testing of new functional principles on the basis of improved and new materials. Another essential role is played by the development of new concepts for the miniaturisation of sensors and sensor systems.
Key aspects:
Sensor technology for the purpose of optimising energy efficiency, energy transformation using new materials, high-temperature actuators for energy transformation, development of functional materials for extreme usage conditions
