Tasks

Pursuant to § 6 of the Statutes of the EFZN (status: December 2006), the Managing Board fulfills the following tasks:

  • The Managing Board manages the ongoing activities and business of the research association, makes the corresponding necessary decisions and enacts amendments to the Statutes in consultation with the Executive Committees of the founding universities. It is responsible for any issues which, according to the Statutes, do not fall within the competence of another body or committee.
  • The Managing Board also coordinates the implementation of the projects within the research association. In order to facilitate the preparation of the coordination of the research projects concerned, the respective project-managing universities communicate to the Managing Board the approved task, cost and financing schedules of those corresponding third-party funded projects. In case of foreseeable difficulties with the implementation of a respective scheduled project due to limits in capacity, the Managing Board informs the affected parties in order to master the issue at hand together by mutual consent.
  • Where applicable, the Managing Board decides in coordination with the respective providing university about the administration of all corresponding equipment, in particular the group and workrooms, workshops, tools and collections, as well as about the employment of any posts / positions, funds for personnel and material resources allotted or assigned to the research association.
  • The employees of the EFZN at the Goslar location are selected and employed by the respective university in consultation with the Managing Board of the EFZN. Any employments are subject to an agreement between the universities involved.
  • In the absence of another established competent body, the Managing Board is also responsible for the observance of the provisions on occupational health and safety and on environmental protection.
