The object of work in focus area 3 is the direct energetic utilisation of hydrogen through combustion.

In comparison to fuel cell technology and depending on the target energy, this energy conversion method is significantly more cost-efficient with regard to the investment costs and at the same time it is greenhouse gas-neutral and environmentally compatible so that a significant utilisation potential with regard to energy storage concepts and sector coupling is seen.
